  • CLASS - X & XII

The School registered 100% result in Std. X & XII Boards. Std. XII - Hrishikesh Ghadge topped securing 93.4%, Out of 56 students, 17 students scored 80 % & above.

Std. X - Out of 196 students, 46 students scored 90% & above & 45 students scored 80 to 89%. Akriti Tiwari & Rishabh Gandhi topped securing 96.6%.

  • Safe Education Institute of the year

Bright Day School, CBSE Unit, Harni is awarded the Secona Shield Awards for being shortlisted for ‘Safe Education Institute of the year ’. The felicitation ceremony was held on 06th April 2018 at Mumbai.

  • Best District Principal Award 2017-2018

Smt. Neeta Sharma bagged the ‘Best District Principal Award 2017-2018’ from Science Olympiad Foundation in acknowledgement of performing excellence in students in SOF Olympiads & Dr. S.Radhakrishnan Samman from Avantika- A group of contemporary artists & intellectuals for her long contribution to Education.

 
  
Aditya Patel of Std. VA and Durva Vadgama of Std. VIII F participated in International Mental Math Championship held at Dubai and bagged a Merit Medal. They also received Merit Medal and a certificate in National Cube Championship held at Mumbai organized by Indian Cube Association.
  
Anvesha Dubey of Std. III F won Zonal Silver medal and gift voucher in International English Olympiad level-2 organized by SOF. Asita Sheth of Std. X C received a gift voucher in National Cyber Olympiad at Zonal level 2017-2018.
Jenish Gandhi of Std. VI F is awarded with a certificate, a book and a trophy for his efforts to understand the importance of nature conservation for the betterment of life under summer camp.

Anant Sanyal of Std. VII F, Parva Shah of Std. IV E and Karnav Parikh of     Std. VI E cleared Scholarship Test of BYJU’S LEARNING APP and received participation certificate.

 

  

Vanshi Parikh of Std. VIII E bagged a Silver medal in Lakdi Competition and is also awarded with a Bronze medal in Essay Writing Competition and Srushti Modi of Std. VI A received a Gold Medal in Lakadi Competition and Silver Medal in Drawing organized by 60th Grishm Vyayam Varg.
Dhruv Hariyani of Std. VIII A received a certificate for undergoing training in Computer concept organized by National Small Industries Corporation.
  • Commonwealth Chess Chapionship 2018
Ansh Shah of Std. XI A won Khel Pratibha Puraskar for excellent performance in chess throughout the year and received Bronze Medal for Gujarat in SGFI Nationals. He represented India in Commonwealth Chess Championship 2018, New Delhi U-16 open age category. He also won U-17 Open Gujarat State Championship and Joint Boys & Girls Championship. He received scholarship under Centre of Excellence Scheme from Gujarat State Chess Association & Sports Authority of Gujarat. He has received the scholarship for the fourth consecutive year.
Harshil Makwana of Std. IX E bagged the 1st position in Baroda Open Tennis Tournament U-14 years (Male) Category, he also bagged the 1st position in singles U-14 Boys and Girls Tennis Tournament organized by GAIL (India) Ltd. He was the Quarter Finalist in Boy’s Singles and Boy’s Doubles U-14 All India Ranking Tournament 2018. He also received participation certificate in Tennis State Summer Coaching Camp and U-16 Boy’s Single Pre-Quarters Tournament organised by Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation. He attended Tennis Summer Coaching Camp 2018 organised by Ramatgamat,Yuva and Cultural Dept. Gandhinagar (SAG), he also achieved the Pre-Quarters singles in U/16 Boys of ACTF-AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament, Ahmedabad.
  
Priyanka Pamnani of Std. IX A bagged the 2nd position and Hetvi Kothari of  Std. IX B bagged the consolation prize in Elocution competition organized by JCI Baroda Metropolitan.
Rutva Pandya of Std. II C won 2 Gold Medals (Relay Race), 1 Silver Medal,  (Rink Race) in Open Speed Skating Championship organised by Gujarat State Roller Skating Association.
Purvanshu Patel of Std. VIII B participated in Rank One Open Speed Skating Championship and received a Bronze Medal in Long and Short Rink Race and Relay Race. He also received a Silver Medal in Elimination Race.

Anushyaa Kaithwas of Std. VI A bagged the 2nd position in 4x50 mt free Style Relay, 200 mt Medley and the 3rd position in 4x50 mt Medley Relay,100 mt Free Style in 45th – 35th Sub Junior Gujarat State Aquatic Championships 2018 held at Ahmedabad. She also bagged the 1st position in Free Style, Breast Stroke, Back Stroke and the 2nd position in Butterfly events of Swimming Competition organised by the International Association of Lions Clubs.

  
Shardul Pattankar of Std. III C won Gold Medals and winner trophy U-12 & U-14 boys and Yashasvi Pattankar of Std. VII C received a trophy and a certificate of merit for securing the 1st position in U-14  category at Open Baroda District Sub-Junior Ranking Carrom Tournament Organized by Baroda District Carrom Association.
Shivansh Kumar of Std. IV D won Gold Medal in Sub Junior Gujarat State Karate Championship 2018.He also received a participation certificate from Karate Association of India and received a certificate in Junior White Belt & Senior White Belt.
Helari Shah of Std. V B received a certificate in Junior White Belt & Senior White Belt and Mansi Parmar of Std. VII F won the 1st position with Brown and Black Belt from Shotokan International Karate Do Federation of India.

Tathya Patel,Vedi Patel and Simran Kukreja of Std. IV B bagged a Silver & Bronze Medal in 3rd SKDA National Open Karate Championship.
Nitya Gandhi of Std. VI B is awarded the 2nd DAN rank in the art of Shotokan Karate. She is also certified by official recognition of DAN GRADE.

Hiya Patel secured the 7th position at district level U-9 Girls Chess Competition. She also won a Bronze Medal for participating in Chess Tournament U-9 years category and received participation certificate organised by JCI Baroda Metropolitan in Open Baroda Rapid Chess Tournament.

COMPETITIONS

  • On 21.04.2018, Std. II students participated in Handwriting Competition. The students actively participated in the competition. The parameters to judge were neatness, legibility of written content,  spacing between words and overall presentation. The students were encouraged to develop good calligraphy and writing skills.

  • On 21.04.2018, Std. III students participated in G.K. Contest. It initiated the event to explore the general knowledge and knowledge of current affairs. The students showcased their brilliance by answering the questions. It was very informative and enriching experience for the students.
  • On 21.04.2018, Std. IV & V students participated in ‘Best Out of Waste Competition’. The students made very creative & innovative articles in a useful way. The students as an initiative tried to instill the importance of recycling.
  • On 21.04.2018, Std. VI and VII students participated in ‘Quiz’. The finalists were selected from the semi-final round which was held on 16.04.2018. The top rankers from each section were selected. The students were divided into 6 teams, namely Ganga, Narmada, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, Godavari, & Kaveri. The final round of Quiz comprised of rounds like General Round, Identify the personality, Buzzer Round (visual round on dams of Indian Rivers) and the last was Rapid fire Round. As a part of ISA project, we had also asked questions about rivers and students were successful in answering the questions. The names of the teams were also related to the rivers and it catered questions about the rivers chosen for the study.
  • On 21.04.2018, Std. VIII and IX students participated in ‘Extempore’. The topics in the competition were associated with varied subjects such as current issues, science and technology, sports etc. The competition intended to give an opportunity to the students to unveil their hidden potentials, talents and to build up their self-confidence.
  • On 21.04.2018, Std. X & XII students participated in Poster Making Competition. The topics were ‘Water – The Elixir of Life’ and ‘Heritage of Chattisgarh’. All the students portrayed the pictures related to the topics and disseminated the message regarding ‘Save Water’ and ‘Save Heritage’. As a part of ISA project students participated in the competition to sensitize and spread awareness among the students about Saving Water.
  • On 24.07.2018, Std. I & II students participated in ‘Recitation Competition’.  Poetry recitation deals with ideas and feelings delivered along with rhythm and expression. The participants presented poems on themes like ‘save girl child’, ‘save tiger’, ‘cleanliness’, ‘value of time etc. It was an excellent opportunity for them to gain confidence through stage exposure. The children enthusiastically participated in the competition and exhibited their talent and confidence.
  • On 21.07.2017, Std. III students participated in ‘Story Telling Competition’. The participants made effective use of facial expressions, gestures and voice modulation. Each story concluded with moral highlighting different values of life.
  • On 24.07. 2018, Std. IV & V students participated in ‘General Knowledge Quiz competition’. The quiz was conducted to test the Children’s Knowledge about current affairs. In today’s world, change is the only constant thus it becomes exceedingly necessary to be updated and know and acknowledge what is happening around us. Quizzes are also important in the learning process and  help one to be spontaneous and also test the memory power of young minds.
  • On 24.07.2018, Std. VI & VII students participated in ‘Light Music Competition’. One student from each house was selected through Semi-Final Round. The finalists participated in the final round. The student’s songs mesmerized everyone. The students learnt to sing to the rhythm and melody.
  • On 24.07.2018, Std. VIII & IX students participated in ‘Science Quiz Competition’. The finalists were selected from the semi-final round which was held on 02.07.2018.The competition was held among six teams. The quiz consisted of four rounds namely; Question & Answers round, Visual & Buzzer round, Multiple Choice round & Rapid fire. The teams participated actively. The competition encouraged to bring out the best & also motivated them to keep updated. It was a great learning experience for students.

 

EVENTS

  • STUDENTS’ COUNCIL ELECTION
It is very well said that encouragement always pushes the person to perform much better than what he already has. To experience the true meaning of democracy, the school provided a platform to the students to elect their representatives by casting their vote for the candidates nominated for different posts of Students Council Election. The event was held on 27.06.2018 in the school premises. The students were very enthusiastic throughout the electoral procedure.

  • M R Vaccination Campaign
On 30th July 2018, M R Vaccination Campaign for eradication of Measles & Rubella drive by the Govt. was organized. It went on smoothly.

 

ACTIVITY

  • On 29.06.2018, an interesting activity of ‘Memory Game’ was conducted for the students of Std. I. Wherein students were shown 27 objects for five to seven minutes. They had to recall and write the objects shown.
  • On 18.07.2018, a seminar was conducted by Shri Kalyanraiji Sarvjanik Charitable Trust. The Amrut Kalash Mahotsav is a programme which is named as ‘Let’s Save Water Together’. It is making the youth aware and sensitize the students about saving water, how to conserve water at individual level and also by taking an oath students promised to conserve water resources and use it judiciously. Students will also make an effort to aware the people living in their vicinity.
  • On 24.07.2018, a Karate session was organized for class X in the school premises. The main purpose of the session was to prepare the students for self-defence. The students were trained by Mr. Mahesh Raval. Under HPE the students were trained for six types of punches, 2 types of self defence and basic Kata.

 

CELEBRATIONS

  • Earth Day
Earth Day was observed to spread awareness in people regarding recycling, reducing and reusing the amount of energy people consume. To make them more environment friendly the students were shown videos with themes focusing on walk to work, use public transport, recycle, go paperless, plant a tree,  to switch off the lights and fans when not in use and not to waste water.
  • World Heritage Day
The National & Cultural heritage is an important asset of a country. To make the children aware of our rich heritage a PPT was shown to students consisting of various monuments, information was shared regarding them and questions were asked.
  • International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day was observed on 21.06.2018. Yoga and its benefits. It embodies unity of mind and body, thought and action. Certain common postures were demonstrated and students too performed yoga like Pranayam, Anulom, Vilom. The teachers shared information on the importance of Yoga and its benefit. Other than the discussion, in the morning assembly students also shared various ideas related to Yoga for healthy body, mind and soul. Students displayed their painting, drawing in their classrooms and students of Std. IX to XI performed Yoga together under the guidance of Yoga Teacher Ms. Chitra.
  
  • Investiture Ceremony

On 29.06.2018, Brightians moved towards a new chapter of their life where they got on opportunity to be dutiful towards their school, teachers and juniors by taking up the responsibilities given to them. The Investiture Ceremony was held where in all the new office bearers of Students Council were officially sworn in.

The ceremony began with a prayer by students. According to the saying, “The old order gives way to the new order”, the members of Students Council solemnly took the oath to perform their duties with sincerity and to make their school proud. The principal Mrs. Neeta Sharma preceded the oath taking ceremony. Managing Trustee Shri Simit Shah addressed the Council members and congratulated them on their victory. Chairman Shri Jayendrabhai Shah, Managing Trustee Shri Simit Shah, Principal Neeta Sharma and Head Mistress Dr. Deepshika Shukla honoured them with sashes and badges.

 

ENHANCEMENT PROGRAMMES FOR TEACHERS

As a part of professional enrichment, teachers participated in various workshops held by Gyan Sarovar Sahodaya on 23.06.2018
  • Ms. Nalini Raghave attended the workshop on Social Science for Std. III to VIII organized at GPS, Chhani. The resource person Ms. Aruna Maruthy shared her insights on many topics, such as ‘Lok Sabha Formation’, ‘Colouring of heat zones of earth, ‘Totem’ and ‘debate’ on social topics. She had shared her knowledge about how to hold attention of learners, as average learning retention rates differ from student to student.
  • Mr. Rakesh Sharma attended the workshop on Social Science at Gujarat Public School. The resource person was Ms. Nagma Kataria. Various methodologies were shared for teaching and transacting the information and knowledge through flow chart, web pattern, venn diagram. It also had play-way method to learn and understand the topics, activity of quiz and dice ludo was included to help the teachers conduct the sessions in the class.
  • Ms. Vandana Gadiya attended the English workshop titled ‘Teaching Grammar without the Hammer’. The workshop was organized at St. Kabir School. The resource person was Ms. Hema Srivastava. The workshop helped the teachers to understand, the importance of using English Language for communication. The workshop helped to understand that we need to Challenge the students primarily for real life situations.
  • Ms. Sangeeta Gandhi attended the workshop on English for class IX and X organized at St. Kabir School. Ms. Leena Nair the resource person had many new and updated versions of methods for teaching English. Role-play, debates, discussions are some. The session was interactive and informative.
  • Ms. Dipti Jiandani attended the workshop on Science organized at GPS. The resource persons were Mrs. Seema Kadri (Chemistry and Biology) and Mr. SS Kelkar (Physics). The session was very interactive and it emphasized to learn with fun by playing games. Such as ‘Catch me if you can’, ‘Tambola’ and many important topics were covered by using interactive worksheets, flashcards and diagrams.
  • Ms. Madhushree Mukharjee attended the workshop on Science organized at GPS. The resource person Ms. Arpita Murmurey introduced many innovative and group activities. Teachers had to prepare periodic table, made structure of ethane with matchsticks and many activities at individual and group level were discussed.
  • Ms. Darshan Dhillon Kaur and Ms. Preeti Bhatt attended the workshop on Hindi organized at New Era Senior Secondary School. The resource person was Dr. Usha Sharma. The title of the workshop was ‘Jahan Chah Wahan Rah’. It focused upon writing skills, use of vocabulary, activity and technology based teaching process.
  • Ms. Pratibha Pathak attended the workshop on Sanskrit organized at New Era Senior Secondary School. The resource person was Ms. Samrudha Marathe. She laid stress upon play-way method of teaching Sanskrit to the learners and to provide scaffold to the students using hints, so that they are able to prepare and show creativity in writing skills.
  • Ms. Prerna Shah attended the workshop on Gujarati organized by at New Era Senior Secondary School. The resource person Ms. Nayna Parmar shared many practical and interesting methods which can be used to teach Gujarati. Role- Play, Dumb charade, Bhavai, Dialogue Writing were few explained in the workshop that are helpful for teaching the language.
  • Ms. Upma Modi attended the workshop on Maths organized at Manav Kendra Gyan Mandir, Kandari. The resource person Mr. Shri Hari introduced different math games to reinforce the concepts in play-way method, using maths in real life situation, different methods to do maths and calculate quickly.
  • Ms. Nayna Kapasi attended the workshop on Maths for teachers of Std. VIII to X organized at Manav Kendra Gyan Mandir, Kandari. The resource person Ms. Manjari used skills like imagination, visualization, differentiation and observation. It had many activities which can really help the students to be involved when the subject is taught.
  • On 21.07.2018, Extramarks Training was provided to the teachers. The aim of the training session was to make teachers friendly using ‘Extramarks’ and to acquaint the teachers of the new features updated for quality transaction of content presented in the Software.
  • On 28.07.2018, a workshop on ‘Teaching English in Higher Classes’ at Navrachna. Ms. Bindu Mathew was the resource person. She discussed about Note-Making, Poster Writing and Poetry and Phase of Literature portion. Illustration on the prose section was dealt effectively. Evaluation pattern along with previous year’s Question Paper, Answer Key with proper marking scheme was also discussed.
